Since the founding of the parent association IG CSD-Stuttgart e.V. in 2001, CSD Stuttgart has stood as a symbol of acceptance and tolerance in society. In 2023, the event series was held under the motto "Not with us! Together safe and strong." Over 300,000 visitors participated, making it the third-largest CSD in Germany. Catering for an event of this magnitude is a challenge. Alexander Prinz, acting board member of IG CSD-Stuttgart e.V. and gastronomy manager, looked for a payment solution in 2023 to comprehensively optimize the catering operation.

Goodbye Paperwork and Mental Arithmetic

For a long time, the team of IG CSD-Stuttgart e.V. relied on mental arithmetic for beverage sales, even for large orders. This not only led to stressful situations for the volunteers, but there was also no proper reporting on the sales. This posed an ever-growing problem in previous years. Optimal product availability and fast payment processes are important for the smooth running of large events like CSD. The organizers searched for a professional cash register solution that could impress with simplicity despite its comprehensive functionality. This is exactly what the POS Go solution from Unzer promised.

Hello POS Go: Easy Payment Process and Business Insights

The mobile all-in-one cash register POS Go replaced the classic POS terminals of the previous payment partner. CSD gastronomy manager Alexander Prinz recalls the easy start with the new system: "The personal product demo beforehand gave me a good feeling. The low investment costs made it easy for us to decide on Unzer POS Go."

All items were created via the merchant dashboard and could be selected by the sales staff in seconds. CSD visitors could pay contactless – whether by card, smartphone, or smartwatch – or in cash. With Unzer as a payment partner, comprehensive payment acceptance was finally ensured. If desired, customers also received a payment receipt from the integrated receipt printer in POS Go.

In addition to fast cashiering, the CSD team benefited from other features. Thanks to the real-time sales data, the individual sales areas could be analyzed in detail. Through the merchant dashboard, gastronomy manager Prinz kept a complete overview of the business and could react proactively, for example, organizing restocking or sending additional helpers to particularly busy sales areas.

And There's Even More Potential in POS Go

The use of POS Go has already significantly professionalized beverage sales at CSD Stuttgart in its first year. Additional features for deposit returns and accepting tips are on the team's wish list for CSD 2024. Valuable feedback that will be considered in the development of new software versions of POS Go. For future events, such as the New Year's reception, the CSD team will also integrate inventory management in POS Go to further optimize logistical processes.
