Berlin, May 27, 2025 – Payment company Unzer reaffirms its commitment to a prejudice-free workplace by signing the German Diversity Charter (Charta der Vielfalt e.V.). The payment provider sends a clear message: diversity and inclusion are cornerstones of Unzer's corporate culture and are deeply integrated into the company's ESG strategy.
Since 2006, the Diversity Charter has advocated for a bias-free, appreciative environment. Over 6,000 companies and institutions have signed, representing 14,7 million employees committed to embedding diversity principles, fostering exchange and mutual learning, and strengthening democratic values. As part of their work, the association acts as an agenda setter for diversity management in Germany and hosts events on, for example, this year's German Diversity Day on 27. May 2025.
Besides the Diversity Charter, the company has signed the Luxembourgish Women in Finance Charter and collaborated with EWPN (European Women Payments Network) this year to regularly reaffirm its mission to promote gender diversity and support an equitable financial sector.
Dr. Max Steiger, Chief Compliance and Governance Officer at Unzer, says, "Diversity isn't a task that can be checked off a list – everyone at Unzer has a unique story, which only enriches the company culture. Signing the Diversity Charter is a testament to our ongoing efforts to ensure equality, inclusion, and respect for all employees."
This step is just one of many initiatives at Unzer focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. For example, employees have access to resources that support mental well-being and can challenge self-promotion bias through initiatives like #iamremarkable. Unzer also prioritize employee engagement and ongoing feedback, ensuring that everyone knows their voice matters. Unzer's speak-up culture empowers individuals to raise concerns without fear—whether through formal mechanisms like whistleblower systems or, more importantly, through open and respectful dialogue in everyday interactions.
Unzer provides an ecosystem that enables businesses to digitalise through simple and integrated payment and software solutions. From online purchases and in-store mobile POS systems to final settlement and essential business processes, Unzer simplifies and optimises retail operations.
