Hamburg, 22.04.2025 – This year, Unzer returns as the official sponsor and payment partner of the Hamburg Open. This major men’s tennis event is part of the ATP Tour 500 series and will take place from May 17 to May 24 in the Hanseatic City.

The world of tennis comes to Hamburg

Since its foundation in 1892, the Hamburg Open has been one of the world's oldest and most esteemed tennis tournaments, consistently attracting top ATP players. For the 119th time, the tennis stadium Am Rothenbaum will host international tennis matches, welcoming elite athletes like the world’s number one, Jannik Sinner, to Hamburg. To ensure a seamless fan experience off the court as well, Unzer provides innovative payment and checkout solutions.

Seamless Enjoyment: Fast and cashless with POS Go

With up to 10,000 spectators to be catered for, cash concerns are a thing of the past. Unzer collaborates with catering partner Käfer to equip all food and beverage stations in the fan zone with Unzer’s portable POS Go terminals. This allows fans to quickly and cashlessly pay with their preferred payment methods — by credit or debit card, smartwatch, or mobile wallet.

"Our collaboration with Unzer proved extremely valuable last year. Thanks to this partnership, we were able to offer Hamburg Open visitors a seamless and first-class experience. The flexible and efficient POS Go solutions by Unzer helped us streamline our processes and swiftly respond to our fans' needs. We are very happy to have Unzer by our side and are looking forward to partnering with them again in this year's edition of the Hamburg Open", says Enric Molina Mur, Tournament Director of the ATP 500 event.

POS Go combines a card reader, receipt printer, and scanner in one device and provides real-time insights into sales data, enabling organizers to optimally manage inventory and staff deployment. Thanks to a comprehensive overview of sales figures and inventory, delivery processes can be improved, and organizers can react to spontaneous changes in demand. This ultimately guarantees a seamless payment experience for visitors.

Venue for the Exclusive Playmaker Forum

As part of the Hamburg Open 2025, Unzer will host the exclusive Playmaker Forum on May 21. This platform offers engaging discussions and valuable insights into the future of sport and business. The forum is aimed at selected business partners and interested parties and enables an exchange with experts and industry leaders. Participants can look forward to a VIP tour, inspiring presentations, and networking opportunities.

“Our Playmaker Forum thrives on extraordinary venues and unique experiences. With the Hamburg Open and the stadium, we have found a location that combines sport, business, and enjoyment in a truly exceptional way—a perfect match for engaging conversations and forging new connections,” says Pascal Beij, CCO of Unzer.

Unzer connects technology, data, and payment transactions, providing clubs and event organizers with seamless fan experiences. With its unified commerce platform, UnzerOne, Unzer integrates sales, payment, and marketing activities across various channels and applications in a single cloud-based system. Thus, organizations meet the rising demand for contactless payments at venues or retail points, saving money through more efficient processes and secure payment integration.
