Frankfurt – As reported in the press, the Koblenz Public Prosecutor's Office and the Federal Criminal Police Office are currently investigating individuals in the payment services sector. The name Unzer has also been mentioned in this context. We ask for your understanding that we are only able to comment to a limited extent at this time. For details on the investigations, please refer to the relevant authorities.
What we can confirm: There has been no search of our premises. According to the information available to us regarding the status of the investigations, there is no indication that they are directed against individuals currently working for the company.
We cannot comment on allegations against individuals. However, we would like to emphasise that we proactively terminated all business relationships with the dealers in question during the first half of 2021, and parted ways with the former managing director and founder. Subsequently, the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) conducted a special audit at Unzer E-Com GmbH and appointed a special representative. BaFin lifted the special appointment in 2024.
Unzer has invested heavily in its compliance organisation in recent years and is committed to maintaining the highest compliance standards.
We have worked closely with the authorities to support the investigations and will continue to do so. We welcome all measures taken by the authorities to combat fraud and money laundering effectively.
We operate with transparency and a focus on the future, aiming to drive the much-needed digitalisation of trading in Germany and beyond.
For further information on this matter, please refer to the official press release issued by the Federal Criminal Police Office (in German language).
