  • Katrin Stark to lead the company’s finance team.
  • Jacob von Ingelheim takes on the role as Chief Risk and Transformation Officer.
  • The appointments further strengthen the management team as Unzer continues to evolve to become a unified company with a unique commerce and software offering in the European market.

Unzer, a company providing payment and commerce solutions, has appointed Katrin Stark as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). As of March 1, 2023, Stark has been leading Unzer’s Finance department – including the teams responsible for Financial Planning and Analytics, Treasury, and Accounting. Her appointment strengthens Unzer’s management team as the company continues to support businesses across Europe to better serve their customers through unified commerce solutions.

Katrin Stark studied and researched Computer Science in Germany and the USA and received her doctorate in Computer Vision/Machine Learning. As a former management consultant at McKinsey, she took up positions as divisional board member at Commerzbank and as managing director at Deutsche Bank and Silicon Valley Bank in Germany. At Orderbird, she has been responsible for the company's operational performance as COO and for developing the payment business and licensing process with German financial regulator BaFin. Stark is an active business angel, holds multiple advisory board positions in the Fintech area, and is a supervisory board member at Bankhaus Metzler.

“We are excited that Katrin has joined Unzer and that we could win yet another top manager from the payment sector for our team,” says Robert Bueninck, CEO of Unzer. “Katrin brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and expertise in technology and finance and she is well familiar with both the corporate and the start-up world. She is a natural fit to our management team and I’m looking forward to working together.”

Katrin Stark says: “Unzer is an outstanding company that offers integrated payment and software solutions to help merchants empower their customers. With its holistic product offering and talented team, Unzer is well-positioned and a strong partner for retailers across Europe. I’m really excited to help drive the company forward and achieve its mission.”

Robert Bueninck, CEO at Unzer

Stark succeeds Jacob von Ingelheim, who recently took over the newly created role as Chief Risk and Transformation Officer (CRTO). Von Ingelheim will focus on Unzer’s transition to become a unified company with a unique commerce and software offering in the European market, following a number of recent mergers. He will also oversee the ongoing remediation after BaFin has concluded its audit at Unzer in the summer of 2022.

Bueninck further comments: “Bringing thirteen entities together needs clear ownership and focus. Jacob has a proven track record in driving successful change programs and building risk-aware cultures. Having a C-level colleague dedicated to this transition and transformation does not only reflect our commitment to this transition but will also strengthen our business.”

Unzer is committed to simplify commerce by combining technology, data and payments to help merchants start, run, and grow their businesses. Just recently, Unzer introduced Pascal Beij as new Chief Commercial Officer. In November 2022, the company presented its unified commerce platform UnzerOne, which merges sales, payments, and marketing activities across different channels and applications into one central system in real-time. This way, businesses have one single source of truth for their product, inventory, order and customer data across all touchpoints, while customers benefit from a consistent and shopping experience.
