Contactless checkout: Paid for in seconds with Unzer QR payment

Berlin, 02.04.2025—The payment company Unzer is adding QR payment to its product portfolio. This solution enables simple and secure payment processing for retailers—even without their own company website. Payments can be made via QR codes, which merchants can conveniently share via email, chat, or social media or let their customers scan directly on-site.

Scan to Pay – a matter of seconds

The principle is straightforward and can be described in three words: scan, pay, done. Customers receive a QR code that, once scanned, takes them to a secure payment page, where they can complete their payment quickly and easily using the desired payment method. The methods are versatile and support standard payment options such as credit cards, bank transfers, digital wallets, and more.

The Swiss Army Knife of payment solutions

In Germany alone, 83% of people own a smartphone, meaning 8 out of 10 have a QR scanner*. Thanks to this ready availability, QR codes can be used as a means of payment in numerous everyday situations, e.g., when settling a bill in a restaurant, paying for an online purchase, or booking a hotel room. Sensitive payment data does not have to be passed on verbally or by telephone, which increases security. In addition, Unzer relies on 3D-Secure and comprehensive fraud protection.

QR payment is Unzer's latest solution to simplify paying for consumers and merchants. In February, Unzer launched its direct transfer, an innovative payment method based on open banking that allows customers to make digital payments securely and directly from their bank account.
