Mobile ordering and payment creates a better visitor experience

Anyone who has ever been in a stadium knows it: At halftime, you have to squeeze through the crowd and wait. With Mobile Order, visitors can now order food and drinks directly during the games via their smartphone, which significantly reduces queuing times. A QR code is all it takes to conveniently pick up the order at the respective sales stand.

Payment company Unzer has now implemented this technology as one of the first providers and integrated it deeply into the SAP landscape. Unzer was supported by two partners: The payment plugin was developed by Unzer together with team:blue, the SAP experts from team neusta. The direct integration into the SAP checkout was provided by the experts from Netprint.

Pascal Beij, Chief Commercial Officer of Unzer, says: "At sports and events, the team and the artists should be in the foreground. Together with our partners team:blue and Netprint, we ensure that payments run smoothly in the background, so that clubs and event organizers can offer their visitors a great experience - without long queues at checkouts."

Merchants using SAP Commerce can now offer an individual payment mix with all common local payment methods from a single source, both Europe-wide, online and on-site. The UnzerOne payment platform consolidates all order and payment activities across all checkouts and channels into a cloud-based system. Even the "Buy now pay later" option is possible in the stadium. In this way, clubs and companies meet the increasing demand for mobile ordering and flexible payment options at venues or sales stands.

"Every organizer, every club ticks differently and needs a different technical connection. We specialize in large caterers, organizers, and sports venues and know the needs of our customers. The modularity of the Unzer One payment platform has convinced us," says Patric Breuer, Head of Partnership Management at Netprint.

Christoph Hecker, SAP expert from team:blue adds: "SAP projects are becoming increasingly product-crossing and complex. Clubs and event organizers need partners who not only understand these complex processes, but also master them. Together with Unzer, we have laid the technical foundation so that companies can use a simple and fast integration of payment services in SAP Commerce."

Fans of clubs working with Unzer will be able to use mobile ordering soon. However, the service is also exciting beyond sports. Pascal Beij is convinced: "In the future, we will experience mobile ordering at many events with a large influx of visitors. Stationary and digital sales worlds are increasingly merging. Unified commerce will then be everyday life, even in the stadium."
