Unzer, the optimal payment partner for merchants in Europe, completes the acquisition of acquirer Clearhaus and payment service provider QuickPay from Denmark after the responsible authorities have given their consent.
The move rounds out Unzer's service offering and puts it in a position to offer the complete payments value chain. The acquisition is one of the largest FinTech exits in Denmark to date.
Founded in 2011 in Aarhus, Denmark, Clearhaus is a payment service provider and acquirer focused on payment processing for online stores in Europe. With a 40% market share, the company is Denmark's second largest payment service provider. The acquisition represents one of the largest Danish FinTech exit to date. The parties have agreed not to disclose the respective purchase prices. "With Clearhaus and QuickPay, we are closing the last gaps in our offering. Especially the acquiring expertise and capabilities is an important building block for our strategy. Because now we can process credit card payments independently and thus act much more independently. We have succeeded in bringing Denmark's biggest FinTech success story on board for this. The know-how about the Scandinavian market, the technology and the first-class team of Clearhaus bring us closer to our goal of becoming the top European Fintech Player," comments Robert Bueninck, Chief Executive Officer at Unzer.
Unzer is also acquiring QuickPay. QuickPay is a payment service provider with which Clearhaus has been cooperating since 2014. The company, which was also founded in Aarhus in 2004, processes transactions for online stores and offers all payment methods commonly used in Europe. In 2020, Clearhaus and QuickPay processed over 30,000 European merchants and processed more than five billion euros in payment volume. "Clearhaus is a highly innovative company with a technology-driven and customer-centric DNA. We were looking for a partner with whom we can continue to grow and internationalize our business. Unzer is one of the most exciting players in the European payment market and convinced us with its vision and scalable business model. As part of Unzer, we are looking forward to the future together," explains Claus Methmann Christensen, CEO of Clearhaus.
"Our focus at QuickPay has always been to enable the best payment service for merchants. This promise we have made together with Clearhaus can now be taken to the next level. We are convinced that together with Unzer we can offer an even more appealing solution for merchants in Europe and beyond," added QuickPay CEO Thomas Jensen.
