Environmentally conscious customers can reduce the carbon footprint of their online purchases through a voluntary climate contribution.
In 2007, the mission of the founders of 0815 was to offer top brands at a fair price. More than fifteen years later, 0815 has become the first choice for many online shoppers in Austria in a wide range of product categories, from beauty to technology. In addition to affordable prices, extensive services such as the in-house call center and affordable warranty extensions contribute to the popularity of the shop. Unzer ensures a smooth checkout process with the option of CO2 offsetting.
At 0815, the customer has been the focus from the beginning. In order to meet its own standards, the company decided to switch to a new shop system in 2020. "The relaunch was a logical step in our pursuit of customer centricity," recalls Duminda Weerasekera, Head of Marketing, 0815 Online Handel GmbH. With the e-commerce solution Shopware 6, the shop was able to make significant progress in both technical performance and customer experience. 0815 was awarded the Shop Usability Award 2020 in the category "Best Shop Austria" for its convincing customer experience.
At the time of the shop system change, not all plugins for the shop system were available, and there were only a few payment service providers that already supported Shopware 6 - Unzer was one of them.
Together with a web agency from the Unzer partner network, 0815 was able to optimally configure both the frontend and backend of the new solution. The migration and checkout optimizations paid off from the beginning: in 2020, 0815 already achieved a significantly higher conversion and an increase in revenue by 20% in Austria and 40% in Germany. The shop benefited from higher acceptance rates for individual payment methods, a decrease in the number of purchase cancellations, and an increase in the average shopping cart value.
In 2021, 0815 added the latest feature to its shopping cart: an optional climate protection contribution that customers can select as an additional item. This allows the shop to offer customers the opportunity to make a positive contribution to climate protection and reduce the environmental impact of their purchases. 0815 is collaborating with the Austrian social enterprise HELIOZ in its initiative, which promotes climate protection projects in Africa and Asia.
The model is already familiar to many consumers from booking flights or bus trips and is well received. The climate protection contribution is based on the amount of CO2 emissions generated by the products in the shopping cart. For customers, the payment process works as usual. The displayed climate protection contribution is transparently added to the total value of the shopping cart. Unzer ensures a smooth payment process for mixed shopping baskets in the background.
With the option of voluntary CO2 compensation, we support our customers in reducing their ecological footprint. More and more customers are taking advantage of the offer, and the response is very positive.
