Unzer Partners with Museum Belvedere

The Belvedere Museum Vienna in Austria is cooperating with atrèQ to make Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss", a centrepiece of the Museum's collection, available for purchase as an NFT project for Valentine's Day. Unzer's role as partner here is to process the fiat payment transactions. For the first time in history of art, one of the best known artworks in the world is to be offered for sale in a rather unusual way as an NFT project. The famous painting "The Kiss" by Gustav Klimt is being divided up into a 100 x 100 grid. This produces a total of 10,000 unmistakable individual segments of the high resolution digital copy, which can then be purchased as non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for Valentine's Day.

The sales process of the NFTs is broken down into multiple phases. In the so-called "whitelisting phase", which is due to start on 26 January, interested parties can register their desire to purchase one of these NFTs via the thekiss.art platform. The purchase price of each NFT is likely to be €1,850. They will then be provided with authorisation to purchase the minted NFTs on 9 February. The minting process provides buyers with a guarantee that each NFT is part of the blockchain, making it unalterable and therefore forgery-proof. The purchase phase also starts on 9 February, when buyers can then complete their NFT purchase transaction online. The individual segments are to be assigned randomly, so nobody knows which unique piece of the artwork they will ultimately receive. The so-called "drop" or official release of the NFTs is scheduled to take place at the latest on Valentine's Day, 14 February.
